Happy New Year!!! 2007!!

Tuesday, June 06, 2006

Well, while I'm running some file scans for viruses, etc., I thought I'd type a quick post.  I'm sure many of you have heard about our new "addition to the family", GiGi.  She's stolen our hearts (well...mine and Nikki's, the guys are a little slower to come around)!  She has been playing with me the last 2 hours and so fun!  Just a rough-tumble little thing!  A Yorkie-Poo.....or as Nikki says a Pookie.  She weighs about 2 lbs...and should be around 5 pounds at full grown.  Her mom's a poodle and her dad's a yorkie.  Quite a llittle doll!!!  Nikki is very much in love ... perfect timing God had for this little blessing!

Got ALMOST all my plants planted this Sunday afternoon.  Yay!!!  Oh, my word!  You won't believe Canton, TX unless you've seen it yourself!  I was in "shop til you drop paradise" with NO time or money!  But...next spring I'll definitely go there for my plants!  HUGE savings....enough to pay the gas and the rest of the shopping would be free, ha!  Those of you who've known about Canton for awhile...I guess I just never "got it".  Of course, we spent most of our time in "Dog Town".

Guess I'd better go see what "Ad-Aware's" finding...then it's off to bed!  Take Care!

Back to work after a work filled Memorial Day weekend!  But...the FUN kind of work!  I finished the big flower bed I've been working on arouond the pool for a year!  Well, almost finished...I have to buy 3 more yellow lillies and maybe 1 more Mexican Heather and plant some Heliotrope (sp?) starts my mother-in-law gave me.  She saved the day... probably gave me $150 in ferns and plants .... had I bought them at a store.  This I could not have done, so I would have had a much barer flower bed!

Anyway...waiting for pool liner #2 to get here and be installed.  The first one was sewn wrong for the area around ou steps.  So...hopfully it will be here in the next week or two.  We're ready to fill that pool back up with water.  Scared clutzy me to death working around it ... it's REALLY deep with no water there to catch you if  you fall!

So...most reports I'm getting is that a good Memorial Day seems to have been had for all.  I'm gald!  That's what long weekends are for!  Everybody (all 2 or 3 of you who read this) have a good week!

About this time (give or take a few weeks) 20 years ago my Mother and Father-in-Law asked (then pregnant) me, "Do you think this baby would rather have a pool or a pony".  Well, duh, that wasn't a tough question to answer!  Of course this baby wanted a pool!  Oh, did I say this baby?  Naturally, I unselfishly meant the one in my tummy!

So...they installed a pool...and now we live in their house, so WE have this pool!  It's been relatively trouble free for the 3+ years we've lived here!  It's never required much more than normal wear and tear maintenance.  Until this year!  And, really, what we're doing now is also normal wear and tear...but it's "big" maintenance....a new pool liner!  After 20 unheard of years (average liners last 5-7 years) this one fell apart during the winter.  What we have in the back yard is so yucky the "Creature from the Black Lagoon" wouldn't live in it.  So, replacing the liner is not an option, it's a MUST!

In, fact!  We killed a water mocasin in it a couple of weeks ago...at least before he died he ate all the frogs and tadpoles that were in there!

So...the reason for the pool liner discussion!  We were able to come up with the deposit for the pool liner, it's been ordered and has arrived in the big city of Mena.  Now we're waiting for our time slot for Family Fun Pools and Spas to install it.  And, of course, then the final 1/2 payment is due.

In order to raise those funds, we've had a garage sale today!  And are more than 2/3's of the way having all that payment!  It's really pretty exciting!  And...there's no moral to that story...just what I've spent the last 36 hours working my tail off for...and still have tomorrow morning to go!

And!  Since we're getting a new liner and "sprucing up" out there, Doug's scored into a really nice pattern, all the concrete and tomorrow will start staining it! We chose black, hoping for a nice marbly pattern and color with the "old" gray concrete.  We've been told that "old" doesn't accept the stain that well...Doug thinks it'll come out more dark brown than black.  Guess we'll knowin a few days now...since he'll spray the first coat tomorrow.  So glad the rain has stopped for a few days!!!!!

As for the rest of my news!  Nikki's out "running around" tonight with a bunch of girlfriends.  That's really a first, so if I seem boring, it's only because I'm making myself stay away until she gets home!

Nathan's moved back in (he hopes to not have to stay long) from college.  I think he'd rather eat a worm...or two or three!  He's "Mr. Independent, I can do whatever I want, wherever, whenever .... and you'd better be ready to play my game by my rules"...it's definitely going to be an interesting summer!  (Don't misunderstand! We're VERY exciting to have him back home...just an adjustment!)

Valerie, yes, I'm liking "Captivating".  I'm listening to it on audio rather than reading the book.  I listened to most of it last week going to/from Russellville...and was pretty impressed with it.  However!  In my old age, I have to hear something several times before it sinks in and stays with me.  There was definitely alot of food for thought!  I'm anxious for another "road trip" so I have time alone to listen to some parts again and finish it!  I think it's definitely worth the read!  Thanks for asking!  (And I'm enjoying your writing, as always!).

Well, folks, mostly you Mom's out there!  HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!  I hope all your kids bless you immeasureably on Sunday!  'night.

I KNOW I need to update! I'm sorry I haven't taken the time to do so...and then complain to others for not updating more regularly.  Hats off to those of you who write such interesting posts!  I'm just not as good at it as I had hoped and imagined I would.

I had a nice day yesterday!  I drove to Russellville to spoil my wonderful son with clean clothes and homemade pizzas.  Had a lovely dinner with Nate and Donnally....thanks kids!  Cant' wait until they come  home for the summer (tho they're already counting down days until the go back...so I was informed).

But the best part of the drive was spending time with praise and worship music and an audio book, "Captivating".  I highly recommend the book!  I learned quite a few things I didn't know....see you can teach an old dog new tricks!  ha!  It was great having some time alone ... that almost never happens that I'm alone with control over the music (or remote control for that matter!).

Well, back to work ... just a quick post to let you all know that I'm alive!  Take care!
